National Electricity Company equips Albaydha Housing Project with electricity services as a sustainable community development service.
ALBAYDHA, MAKKAH, KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA, 9 February – The National Electricity Company connected the Albaydha Housing Project masterplan to the national grid. Electricity will be provided to the tenants of the 79 housing units delivered in the first phase of construction.
This development was announced in a letter from Engineer Abdul Salam bin Rashid Al-Omari, Head of the Western Sector at the Saudi Electricity Company, stating the medium voltage electricity network and generation of the electric current to the Albaydha Housing Project masterplan is completed.
In the letter, Al-Omari explained that the installation of the low-voltage electricity network and meters will be executed after the tenants are confirmed.
This announcement represents the commitment of the Albaydha Housing Project to provision services for the well-being of the families, to help build a sustainable self-sufficient community.
“Electricity is one of the priority services that must be provisioned to every family in Albaydha. I am grateful to the National Electricity Company for helping us meet this critical need,” said HRH Princess Haifa Alfaisal, Founder of the Albaydha Housing Project.
Electricity was identified as a primary vulnerability for many Albaydha families. In exploratory research commissioned for the Project in 2017, families highlighted the financial strains caused by high monthly electricity bills. The Albaydha Housing Project is in a very dry and arid environment that sometimes sees temperatures reaching over 42 degrees Celsius.
